Er war Stabsfeldwebel im Infanterie Regiment 320 und kämpfte in Frankreich und an der Ostfront Russland bis 1945, kehrte erst 1948 aus der Gefangenenschaft zurück

He was a staff sergeant in Infantry Regiment 320 and fought in France and on the Eastern Front in Russia until 1945, but did not return from captivity until 1948
